About ICWP

ICWP began in 1988 in Buffalo, New York, with the mission of supporting and promoting women playwrights around the world and bringing attention to their works. Recently we have published books of scripts and given awards to theatres operating gender equity in the annual season.

As a 501-c-3 non-profit organisation we are grateful to donors who help us maintain and expand our services. You can help us to increase our support and promotion of women playwrights. Donate Now!.

Personal  Statement

With my diverse international theatrical connections and my expertise in theatre, and most importantly, my belief in the plight for gender parity; I can offer guidance, support, and help fundraise for women's theatrical projects, which is perhaps my greatest asset to the Board.  I have over twenty years of theatre under my belt.

I am foremost a playwright, but I am branching out as an independent producer, in the hopes of projecting female voices onto the glorious theatrical stage. I am a strong playwright and a potent, eccentric poet, but I am innately interested in other writers and especially in aiding women in the theatre receive their due share of respect.  I also like to network, and to connect theatre folk to theatre folk.

Board and Committees

I can't remember when I first joined ICWP, but it was somewhere around 2007.  My first volunteer job was a link checker for the submission opportunities in the website.  Later I designed a logo which became the banner for the ICWP Newsletter and shortly afterward I became the newsletter editor.

Awards

THE POST-MODERNIST - Seven Devils Playwrights Conference

2006 Idaho Bilingual Teacher of the Year and my staged reading of THE POST-MODERNIST are my only bonafide accomplishments.  You can also see my paintings on Saatchi-Online.

Personal statement

My biggest project was designing the cover for Scenes from a Diverse World and formatting the manuscript for print and electronic publication.  That project took three years.  I'm very happy reading the listserve and working on volunteer projects.  I am a self-taught playwright and this organization is almost my only contact with the theatrical world.  I live in very remote areas, first in New Plymouth, Idaho and now in Xinzheng, Henan Province, PRC (hard to say which is more remote).  But through the listserve, I stay in touch with issues among playwrights, productions, and submission opportunities.  I enjoy the camaraderie and the opportunities to learn new things about playwriting, electronic publication and graphic design. Willing to give lots of unpaid labor.

Personal Statement

I have worked hard during my time on the board to bring tangible progress to ICWP. This has included the ICWP 50/50 Applause Award, assistance in re-hauling the website, the creation of the volunteer program and increasing membership through networking. I would like to have an opportunity to continue this work and to help bring others into it.

I believe that this organization has a lot of untapped potential and needs help tapping it and organizing it. I am willing to help but I know that many, many people are required to make it happen. I look forward to working in a collaborative group to bring women playwrights to the forefront of the theater community.
