Mary Steelsmith, noted actor
and playwright in L.A., was announced by Jacksonville University,
Florida, as the winner of the $10,000 Helford Prize, a national
playwriting contest that was initiated last year by the JU College of
Fine Arts. Steelsmith’s winning play, ISAAC, I AM, was selected from
more than 300 original plays, and will be performed by the JU theatre
department beginning October 19.
Jamie Pachino, SPLITTING INFINITY
was awarded the first prize of $10,000.00 in an international
competition for plays about science and technology launched by the
Professional Artists Lab and the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI)
at UC Santa Barbara.
