Fourteen-year-old Danny struggles with cystic fibrosis, but that's not his only challenge; he's also on a quest to find his biological father.

Converging on his California abode are his eccentric Jewish family, including a pair of Gentile cousins and a dead grandfather, plus a menagerie of unlikely guests – psychics, an ex-rabbi, a motorcycle gang, a parade of faith healers and the head of the Tucson Atheist Society, whom Danny believes is his real father.
